Luna Panthenol: A study about burn management

Damascus Hospital (2004)

The study was performed in the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery in Damascus between 15/6/2004 and 15/9/2004. Luna Panthenol was used to treat a random sample of 30 patients suffering from acute burns of various degrees and areas. The preparation was used in comparison with other traditional treatments in patients who had symmetrical burns.

The preparation was applied alone in small burns and with other topical agents (mafenid acetate, silver sulfadiazine) in larger burns to expand the spectrum of effect. The patients were followed by serial photographs to monitor wound progression.

The results were as following:

- Faster healing of burn wounds, especially superficial ones.

- Faster formation of grannular tissue in deep burns.

- Less pain when applying the preparation on the wound.

- Absence of local and systemic side effects.

- Ability of combination with other compounds.

Luna Panthenol: A study about burn management

National Hospital - Al Raqqah (2004)

The study was performed in the National Hospital of Al Raqah between 2/6/2004 and 2/9/2004. Luna Panthenol cream was used topically in 30 patients suffering from burns which range in depth, location, and surface area. Closed technique of application was used. The study showed excellent results: faster healing, less rate of infection, faster formation of grannular tissue, and less need for skin grafting. No unwanted effects were seen, including pain.

Luna Panthenol: A study about diabetic foot treatment

Diabetes Center in Damascus (2004)

The study was performed in diabetic foot clinic, part of Diabetes Center in Damascus. Thirteen patients were studied, suffering from various foot ulcers classified as grade I or grade II and associated with diabetic neuropathy. All ulcers were deep enough to include full-thickness of the skin and reach the subcutaneous fat. The size of ulcers ranged from 0.5 to 2 cm.

Patients were treated by topical application of Luna Panthenol for six weeks. Complete healing was seen in 12 patients, and the left ulcer healed partially. No signs of infection were seen. This preparation ensured the presence of wet environment necessary for healing and treatment of infection. It is an excellent topical agent for treatment of grade I and II diabetic ulcers.

Luna Silicon Gel: Efficacy in keloids and hypertrophic scars

Dermatology University Hospital (2009)

The study was performed as PhD thesis in Damascus University. The study was performed in Dermatology University Hospital in Damascus between January 2008 and April 2009. The objective was to determine the efficacy of Luna Silicon Gel in treating keloids and hypertrophic scars, and to compare it with silicon bands.

The study showed clear regression of size, height, and vascularization of scar in all patients. These results were observed for up to one year of follow-up and after the treatment was stopped. In addition, the results were similar to those observed with silicon bands, but these latter was associated with erythema, unpleasant smell, cost, and inability to use on wide areas.
